Traffic Impact Assessments & Statements

Traffic impact studies are required when land use changes are made that impact the road network. Whether it is from a capacity or safety point of view.

• Traffic Impact Statement for small developments which generate up to up to 150 trips or special circumstances may warrant it.
• Traffic impact Assessment for larger developments which generate more than 150 trips

Traffic Safety Audits

Safety audits can be undertaken on existing or proposed infrastructure. Some things to consider are speed, environment, signage, users, land use, weather, lighting, surfacing, road markings etc.

Road Access Management Plans

Access management is an important tool to plan and manage access for people and goods from the road network to adjacent land uses. Balancing access spacing with the overall purpose of the road whilst not neglecting safety, is a fine balancing act.

The Access Management Guidelines of the Western Cape Government covers all road types and environments and its implementation is key to optimizing the road network.

Non-motorised Transport Plans

Pedestrians and cyclists are often neglected in terms of their requirements in the road network. Safe crossing points, well lit sidewalks and in some cases priority over vehicular traffic enhance the travel experience and perception for this user group of the road network.

• Design of bicycle routes and facilities

Special Needs Transport Plans

We have been involved in the planning, tender documentation and monitoring of the City of Cape Town’s Dial-A-Ride system. This type of transport service is specialised and a much needed service within all metro and rural areas.

Employment, social and recreational opportunities become accessible and affordable to people with special needs.

Parking Studies

Ease of access, locating a parking bay, and the journey from the vehicle to the centre/building is a user experience that must not be neglected when designing parking areas. Optimisation of existing parking areas can result in better utilisation and efficiency.
